Source of Authority

Scripture
We hold that the Bible alone is the Word of God. We whole-heartedly affirm its divine inspiration, sufficiency, clarity, authority, necessity, infallibility, and inerrancy. Such is Scripture's self-attestation (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12). The Bible is therefore our ultimate and final authority in all matters of faith and life. We also believe that all supernatural media of divine revelation have ceased; and that Scripture alone remains the living voice of God to the church today. (Our congregation uses the New King James Version of the Bible.)

Confessions
As a confessing church, we hold to creeds and confessions that explain and define our Faith, as well as establish our confessional compatibility with other Christians of similar persuasion.

Specifically, we subscribe to the Apostles', Athanasian, and Nicene Creeds. We also subscribe to the following Reformed Confessions: Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort. These Confessions derive their authority in their complete agreement and submission to Scripture. (If you wish to examine those Confessions, please speak to an office bearer.)

Church Order
Our congregation adheres to a federative Church Order. While the CO prescribes uniform practices for the denomination, and regulates many aspects of church life, both for officers and lay members, two important principles are noteworthy: (1) The CO may not contradict Scripture and/or the Confessions; (2) as much as possible the autonomy of the local congregation is safeguarded, through the authority of the local elders. (If you wish to examine a copy of our Church Order, please speak to an officer bearer.)
